Carbon charges could increase renewable energy adoption from mines

Significant carbon charges would speed up solar-diesel and wind-diesel hybrid projects at mines and could possibly boost storage applications as well.

There has, until recently, not been much activity among mining companies regarding renewable energy. A recent report from CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, came to the conclusion that the biggest miners are “unprepared for the transition to a low-carbon economy.”
