Credit: RenewsIn an effort to strengthen their presence in the thriving renewable energy sector in Chile, Acciona plans to construct two wind farms and two solar projects, with a combined capacity of 400 MegaWatts, over the next four years. Construction is already underway on the 183MW San Gabriel wind farm, while the company plans to build the 87MW Tolpan wind project close to San Gabriel’s location.
The 62MW Almeyda solar farm and the 64MW Usya photovoltaic plant will supply electricity to the National Mining Company of Chile under a long-term power purchase agreement. These projects are expected to be operational by 2019 and 2020 respectively.
