Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, led by The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, has announced a Trade Mission to South Africa and Tanzania with a focus on renewables, mining, energy, oil and gas. The Renewables and Mining Summit, Johannesburg, June 23-24, organised by Energy and Mines (part of Canadian Clean Energy Conferences) will form two days of the mission. (announcement details)
The aim of the mission is to support business development opportunities for Canadian companies, particularly SMEs. Canada Trade Missions deliver huge value, providing various networking opportunities, market intelligence and access to key local businesses and government contacts.
The mission dovetails tremendously with the Renewables and Mining Summit; a two-day event that aims to foster project opportunities between energy decision-makers in the mining sector and renewable project developers and manufacturers.
Mining companies currently assessing renewable options and participating in the Summit include: African Barrick Gold, Lonmin, Zimplats, AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo American, REVINSAMB Mineral Mining Holding, Gold Fields, ArcelorMittal, Glencore Ferro Alloys, African Rainbow Minerals, Anglo Platinum and Cronimet Power Solutions.
Renewables companies hoping to explore partnership opportunities and participating include: SolarPower Africa, Sembcorp, Siemens AG, Mainstream Renewable Power, A.T. Kearney, Kabi Solar, BioTherm Energy, Bio2watt, SunEdison and Savannah Environmental.
