Mandalay resources remote Chilean mine – wind, diesel with hydro a possibility

The Cerro Bayo gold and silver mine in Southern Chile is integrating wind energy as a means of reducing diesel costs and addressing logistical and social challenges of transporting diesel to the mine site.

Over the past couple of years Energy and Mines has featured this case study because of a couple of unique characteristics – in particular the innovative use of technology and the finance structure with the IPP.
