The global mining sector recognizes the increasingly important role that renewable energy is playing in driving the competitiveness and sustainability of the resource sector. Over 40 senior mining leaders are already confirmed to meet with renewable energy experts at Energy and Mines World Congress on Nov 21-22 in Toronto. This is the 4th annual event focused on collaboration between mining and renewables to drive down energy prices, secure power costs, reduce carbon exposure and boost social license for mines. This year’s Congress features case studies and expert views from mining operators from North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Lightsource Renewable Energy is the in association sponsor of the Congress which offers a complete picture of new business and collaboration opportunities for renewables for mines. New drivers, new projects and, importantly, renewed interest in renewables for mines are reflected in this year’s high-caliber agenda. Specifically, gold companies with remote operations are showing strong interest in moving forward with renewable energy projects to save on diesel costs. Additionally, mine rehabilitation and carbon mitigation and offsetting are becoming key drivers for mines to consider renewables investments.
