The price competitiveness of renewables has increased significantly in recent years, making it possible for alternative energy to now compete with traditional energy sources in many regions, observes Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel Green Power.

In a Thought-Leader interview published in advance of the Energy and Mines World Congress,  Venturini provides expert insight on renewables for mines and the increasing competitiveness and changing procurement models for alternative energy.

“PV module costs have experienced an incredible drop of 90% in the last seven years,” he notes. “Wind power is also increasingly competitive and, in recent years, turbines have been improved in terms of nominal power, dimensions, and efficiency.”
