Total Eren has opened the world’s largest solar-thermal hybrid plant in Burkina Faso. The Essakane Solar plant is expected to provide 15 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity which will be used, in conjunction with existing diesel generators, to provide electricity for IAMGOLD’s Essakane mine. IAMGOLD will purchase the entirety of the plant’s power via a 15-year power purchase agreement with Total Eren and their partner AEMP.
