Hybridisation – the "least-cost option" for Australian Mines

Depending on locally available wind and solar conditions, fuel savings from hybridisation  at mine sites can amount  to more than 70%. It’s this clear economic argument that is driving mines in Australia to explore renewables and storage to reduce operating costs. In an article available to download here, juwi Renewable Energies’ Head of Global Business Initiatives, Amiram Roth-Deblon details the cost benefit of exploring new fuel options.  “At sites where we also integrate wind,  the mine can offset more than 75% of its fossil fuel usage. We are currently designing such solar-windbattery hybrids for multiple sites in Western Australia.”
