In the face of increasing power demand that has led to a peak power deficit of 4.2%, the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has auctioned off 85 MegaWatts (MW) of grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, to be developed across the state of Assam.
The projects are split between Azure power, who have been awarded 75 MW of grid-connected solar PV projects, and Maheswari Mining and Energy Pvt. Ltd, who have been awarded 10 MW. Azure Power is expected to sign a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with APDCL, with the weighted average tariff rate to be set at $0.0503 per kWh. Read the full story HERE
