Scania Delivers Norway’s Largest Electric Truck To Norwegian Limestone Quarry

Scania has delivered Norway’s largest electric truck, a P 45 with a total weight of 66 tons, to the Verdalskalk limestone quarry in Verdal, Norway. The truck has three axles and a battery capacity of 300 kWh.

The truck will transport around 120,000 tons of lime annually from the quarry to the port for shipment, reducing fossil fuel consumption on the route by 58,800 liters and CO2 emissions by 156 tons.

The electric truck will also be less noisy along its 20-kilometer transport route.

The truck is part of Scania’s Pilot Partner program and is the first delivery in the heaviest of truck segments.

The truck will be charged at Verdalskalk’s facility at the port and will be maintained at Norsk Scania’s workshop in Verdal.

“Norway is a pioneering country for transport solutions with a focus on reducing climate impact, and I am sure that we will deliver more Pilot Partner vehicles to Norway,” says Tony Sandberg, director Pilot Partner at Scania.
