ArcelorMittal Mining Canada Deploys Electric Buses To Ferry Employees

ArcelorMittal Mining Canada G.P., a mining company in Québec, has achieved a significant milestone in its energy transition. It has become the first mining company in Québec and on the North Shore to use electric buses to transport its employees.

The company has acquired eight electric buses manufactured by Lion Electric Company and will be operated by Transport Therrien, a company based in Fermont. The charging infrastructure was installed by Cléo, a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec.

The initiative is a part of ArcelorMittal’s sustainable development strategy, which aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The company has also installed electric charging stations at its Mont-Wright and Port-Cartier facilities to support and encourage the electrification of transportation.
