Newmont Corp Publishes 2022 Climate Report

Newmont Corporation has released its 2022 Climate Report, which follows the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

The report outlines Newmont’s efforts to address climate change, including managing climate risks, improving business resiliency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and understanding climate impacts.

Newmont said it will prioritize the development of renewable energy projects aimed at achieving a reduction of up to one million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in emissions at its Boddington and Tanami mining sites.

Furthermore, the company is exploring zero-emissions haul systems, engaging suppliers and customers on emission reduction targets, and partnering on carbon sequestration research.

The Climate Report is part of Newmont’s commitment to transparency and providing detailed information on its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

“We believe that industries that create value — like mining — have a responsibility to drive bold actions and innovation to facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy,” said Newmont President and CEO Tom Palmer.

Newmont is a leading global gold company and also produces copper, silver, zinc, and lead, with operations in various mining jurisdictions worldwide.
