Copper Mountain Mining Makes Progress On Commitment To Cut GHG Emissions

Copper Mountain Mining Corporation has released its 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, showcasing its sustainability efforts and progress towards ESG targets. The report demonstrates the company’s commitment to sustainable practices and reducing its environmental impact.

The Company made progress towards its goal of reducing carbon intensity by 47% in 2025 compared to 2019 levels, in line with its commitment to decrease energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In 2022, 63% of the energy was sourced from low-carbon electricity, while only 37% was derived from fuel, the latter marking a substantial decrease compared to previous years.

Other highlights of Copper Mountain’s ESG achievements include improving safety performance with a 49% decrease in Lost Time Injury Frequency rate and substantial reductions in freshwater use (67%) and water discharge (97%) compared to 2019 baseline levels.

Copper Mountain also exceeded its target for female representation, achieving 26% in new hires and 38% on the board.

The company has met or exceeded sustainability targets, earning favorable ratings on the Mining Association of Canada’s protocols. The 2022 ESG Report and additional information can be found on Copper Mountain’s website.
