Epiroc has secured a significant order from Boliden, a major European mining company based in Sweden. The order includes various mining equipment, specifically battery-electric vehicles and automation solutions, for use in Boliden’s three underground mines in Sweden. The total value of the order is approximately MSEK 130 (about US$12.04 million) and was recorded in the second quarter of 2023.
This order follows a similar one placed by Boliden last year. The battery-electric machines, including the Minetruck MT42 SG hauler, Scooptram ST18 SG loader, Boomer E20 SG face drill rig, and Boltec E10 SG rock reinforcement drill rig, will be deployed at Boliden’s Rävliden, Renström, and Kankberg mines in northern Sweden, where they extract zinc, copper, lead, gold, silver, and tellurium.
Boliden aims to optimize safety, productivity, and sustainability in its mining operations, aligning with Epiroc’s focus on providing solutions that contribute to low-carbon-footprint metal production.
Epiroc’s battery-electric machines offer zero emissions, improved working conditions, reduced costs, and increased productivity. In addition, Epiroc’s automation systems, called Deep Automation, will be employed to automate Boliden’s material handling process, enhancing safety, consistency, and productivity.
