Torex Gold Orders Battery Electric Vehicles From Rokion

Torex Gold has placed an order for 28 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) from Rokion for its Media Luna project in Mexico. These BEVs will be used for zero-emission personnel transport and production support functions at the project, which aims to extend the life of Torex Gold’s El Limón Guajes Complex.

Media Luna is an underground deposit containing gold, copper, and silver mineralization. The project is progressing according to schedule and budget, with equipment deliveries playing a crucial role.

Rokion’s BEVs offer high performance and long battery life, making them suitable for mining operations.

Rokion will provide the operation with 27 battery-powered utility trucks and one R700 forklift, marking their first order for a battery-powered forklift. These trucks have the capability to navigate mine sites with a 20% grade at maximum weight and speed, traveling over 70 km per charge, which is sufficient for a full shift without requiring recharging.

The vehicles will be delivered starting in October, with the full fleet expected to be in place by 2025.
