Andrew Slavin
Director
After earning a Ph.D. in Astrophysics and spending several years in academia, Andrew transitioned from the world of astronomy to the dynamic field of business conferences in 1997. Since then, he has successfully produced business-to-business events across a diverse range of sectors, including telecommunications, broadcasting, financial communications, media, mining, and energy policy.
In 2009, he co-founded Canadian Clean Energy Conferences with Adrienne Baker to advance the transition to a low-carbon economy in Canada. The following year, they launched Energy and Mines, an initiative aimed at accelerating the energy transition within the global mining sector.
Energy and Mines has delivered influential events focused on zero-emissions mining, hydrogen integration, renewable energy adoption, nuclear power, Indigenous partnerships, electrification, and the decarbonization of material movement. These events have taken place in key mining regions, including Canada, Australia, South Africa, Chile, and the UK.
Adrienne Baker
Director
Adrienne Baker holds degrees from McGill and Concordia Universities and began her career in financial journalism. Over seven years, she reported for and edited several prominent publications, including Investor Relations Magazine, Corporate Secretary, Communicate Magazine, and CEO Magazine.
As Editor-in-Chief of Investor Relations Magazine, Adrienne developed a strong interest in corporate social responsibility and climate-related issues, frequently writing on these topics and chairing conferences focused on corporate responses to climate change. This growing passion for sustainability prompted her to shift her career toward producing events dedicated to clean energy and climate solutions.
In 2009, she co-founded Canadian Clean Energy Conferences to support the development of a low-carbon economy. A year later, she launched Energy and Mines, an international platform advancing the mining sector’s energy transition.
Since then, Adrienne has produced and chaired influential events around the world, earning recognition as a thought leader at the intersection of mining and energy. Her work has helped shape the global conversation on decarbonization, renewable integration, and sustainable development in mining.
