Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has delivered an A30G articulated hauler, the first construction machine made from fossil-free steel, for a North American customer at CONEXPO 2023 in Las Vegas.
The A30G articulated hauler was purchased by Pennsy Supply Inc, a CRH company and long-time Volvo CE customer.
The fossil-free steel used in the machine was supplied by steelmaker SSAB and produced using fossil-free electricity and hydrogen, resulting in at least a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions.
This delivery marks another milestone in Volvo CE’s path towards a net-zero value chain by 2040.
Volvo CE plans to continue to promote the use of fossil-free steel for producing its machines and components.
