Hudbay Minerals has signed a ten-year agreement with ENGIE Energía Perú for a 100% renewable energy supply to its Constancia mine.
This agreement is in line with Hudbay’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050. The new contract includes renewable energy certificates (RECs) to ensure that the energy consumed at Constancia is carbon-neutral. ENGIE Energía Perú will commence power supply on January 1, 2026.
This move is expected to reduce Hudbay’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 40% during the contract’s life, bringing the company closer to its 2030 climate change goal of reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 50%.
