Teck Resources Limited and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited have entered into a long-term rail agreement for transporting coal from Teck’s four operations in southeastern B.C.
As a part of the agreement, which will run until 2026, the two companies plan to develop a unique pilot program using CPKC’s hydrogen locomotives in Teck’s coal supply chain. This follows from their common intention to construct ‘green transportation corridors.’
The hydrogen locomotives pilot will commence in early 2024.
The collaboration also aims to increase the resiliency of the Canadian supply chain through investments in infrastructure and technology.
The partnership reflects both companies’ commitments to reducing emissions and enhancing supply-chain reliability for a low carbon future.
