Ceraphi Energy To Conduct Feasibility Study For Geothermal Energy At Greenvale’s Longreach Project

Australian company Greenvale Energy Limited (formerly, Greenvale Mining) has signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with CeraPhi Energy, a UK-based geothermal specialist, to conduct a feasibility study for a geothermal project in Longreach, Queensland.

The study will evaluate the effectiveness of CeraPhi Energy’s proprietary CeraPhiWell down-hole heat exchanger system. Greenvale has also lodged a formal connection enquiry with Ergon Energy to understand the grid connection costs of the potential geothermal plant.

Greenvale aims to find a renewable energy source that will unlock the potential of its Alpha Torbanite Project and has chosen Longreach as the pilot area for its geothermal energy strategy. The project is expected to pave the way for a larger-scale geothermal energy plant in the Millungera Basin.

According to its website, Greenvale has been awarded Exploration Permit Minerals (EPMs) in Julia Creek and Longreach, with EPM applications submitted in five other sites to investigate the potential for rare earth elements.

Karl Farrow, CEO and Founder of CeraPhi Energy said: “Mining companies face significant challenges in decarbonization due to the remote locations that many of these activities are carried out in. The ability to produce energy from closed loop geothermal virtually anywhere, enables us to place the energy where it is needed reducing the requirement of significant transmission and distribution systems which are not always possible and extremely costly to install.”
